Spa
Karlovy Vary owes its fame to the hot curative springs in the meadows by the River Teplá. The largest of the springs - Vřídlo - gushes up from a depth of 2,000 to 3,000 meters to a height of up to 12 meters and the water has a temperature of approximately 73°C. The range of the conditions treated at the spa is wide, although digestive and some metabolic disorders seem to respond best to its waters. The spa treatments originated in the 14th century when the thermal springs were discovered and began being used for bathing, but since the 15th century a drinking cure has been prescribed as well. The hot mineral water has a unique structure, one of the best in the world. It has all the elements needed in the human body. It is used in healing metabolic disorders, to improve functioning of the alimentary tract and to raise immunity levels. It helps to rid the body of toxins and optimise the energy production process in cells. It is said that the springs help in rejuvenation as well.
